A Message From John Bloom and Will Rogers

As you may be already aware, this election year could be one of the biggest landslide victories for Republican candidates in over 15 years, including right here in Polk County. And it is our belief that Polk County Republicans has never been in a better position to help our candidates achieve victory.

Since 1948, the Democrat Party has been in control of Polk County government. In that time period, we have seen the Democrat Party and its candidates raise millions of dollars from Special Interest Groups and Political Action Committees. And under their leadership, we have seen our property taxes go up, spending go up, our debt go up, and a continued exodus of jobs from Polk County.

This is why the Democrats rely on the support of lobbyists, trial lawyers, unions, and out-of-state corporations. Simply put, Polk County Democrats represent all that is wrong with government.

But we are ready to change all of that.

Since early last year, we have been focused on rebuilding a strong grassroots organization. And the results are beginning to show. So far this year alone we have accomplished the following:

  • 25 Republican candidates on the fall’s ballot – the largest number in the last 40 years.
  • Polk County Central Committee Members and Activists have been instrumental in making tens of thousands of voter identification calls to Republicans and Independent voters.
  • Sponsored Voter Registration and Outreach booths at the Asian Heritage Festival, Latino Heritage Festival, and the Juneteenth Observation Festival
  • Participated in the State Fair Parade and parades in the following communities: West Des Moines, Grimes, Johnston, Ankeny, Beaverdale, Urbandale, Pleasant Hill, and Mitchellville.
  • Identified over 500 volunteers and activists to help our Republican candidates with door knocking, lit dropping, making phone calls, walking in parades, and Get-Out-The-Vote Activities.
  • Helped distribute and put up over 1,000 campaign yard signs for our Republican candidates.

And with this level of organization, combined with just a few thousand dollars more, we can help get our candidates message of responsible government, better jobs, reduced spending and lower taxes out to voters from across the county.

But in order to have a chance at taking back our government, we are going to need your help.

Your gift of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500 or more, will help with the cost of flyers, direct mail, yard signs, and Get-Out-The-Vote activities.

Contributions can be mailed to the Polk County Republican Party, 621 East 9th St., Des Moines, IA 50309 or on line at www.polkgop.com

Polk County Republican Jamboree and Picnic!

Newt Gingrich At Robb Kelley Annual Spring Dinner!

A message from John Bloom, Polk County Republican Party Chairman:

Speaker Newt Gingrich is coming to Des Moines! He will deliver the Keynote at the First Annual Robb Kelley Victory Club Dinner, on Wednesday, May 26! Polk County Republicans, in concert with the Robb Kelley Victory Club, will be hosting this event at the Downtown Des Moines Marriott Hotel, with a general reception beginning at 5:30 PM and dinner at 6:45 PM. I am very excited to see the work we have done here in Polk County recognized by a national conservative leader of Newt’s caliber!

I want Polk County Republican activists like you to to take advantage of the opportunity to attend this important event, because it is your continued support of Polk County Republicans that makes it possible for us to host people like Newt. You are the very lifeblood of our organization, and events like this help to continuing strengthening our resolve to deliver the message of smaller government and broader liberties.

And while Newt is clearly the main event, the upcoming Primaries create a further opportunity for us to highlight Republican candidates who will be on the ballot in June. We expect most of the Republican candidates for Congress from Polk County and all of the Republican candidates for Governor to be on hand!

Space is limited, so now is the time to purchase your tickets. I’ve included a link to our event flyer here (in PDF format). If you cannot open the flyer, or have any questions, you may call our office at 515-280-6438 or email Darrell Kearney at dkearney@polkgop.com.

I am honored to be invited by Polk County Chairman John Bloom to serve as the Chairman of the Robb Kelley Victory Club and Annual Dinner. What a great way to help the Republican Party in Iowa's largest county (over 10% of the state wide vote) while at the same time paying tribute to Robb Kelley, a good friend and great Republican.

Bob Burnett, our Honorary Chairman and I sincerely appreciate your considering support for this new club, the purpose of which is to adequately fund the Party's efforts in Polk County to win more seats at the county and legislative level and help our statewide candidates get more votes out of Polk County.

When I was State Chairman and National Committeeman, I had the privilege to work closely with Robb who was very supportive of the Republican Party at the local, state and national level. During the years Robb was active, we elected Ronald Reagan President, Chuck Grassley to the U.S. Senate and Terry Branstad Governor.

Robb was a tireless worker and helped us particularly in fundraising. From making his own personal contributions and soliciting his friends to hosting events in the EMC company lobby, Robb was dedicated to making the party's finance efforts successful.

He believed with all his heart that America was the greatest nation on earth and the Republican Party the best hope for preserving America's greatness and our freedoms.

We ask you to join us in honoring Robb Kelley for his untiring commitment to the Republican cause by supporting the Robb Kelley Victory Club.

As a Charter Member, you will be invited to our annual Robb Kelley Dinner in the Sp[ring of 2010 and future years. With adequate financing of Polk County by the Robb Kelley Victory Club, Chairman John Bloom and Co-Chairman Will Rogers will be able to rebuild, organize, recruit candidates and turn out the vote for a victory in 2010 and beyond.

Thank you for your help in this very critical effort!

    Sincerely,

    Steve Roberts, Chairman
    Bob Burnett, Honorary Chairman
